Very good, minor issue with instructions.
I find that the mix makes a pretty good vegan chili. They include NO spices, which allows the customer to decide ALL the spicing. Some may see this as a negative. I see it as a positive, as I usually have to adjust the spicing of any such mix anyway.I have an issue with the instructions, however. They recommend using 1/4 cup mix to a cup of water. I suppose this is fine if you like a very soupy, watery type chili as your result. I prefer a much thicker, richer chili myself. After making the first batch per instructions, my next batch was made using a 2x ratio rather than the 4x ratio the instructions recommended, using only twice as much water as mix, rather than four times as much. The second batch came out just the way I liked it. A much thicker chili, and quite tasty. I found adding a spoonful of the Harmony House powdered tomato near the end of cooking, and stirring it in well, add just the right addition of tomato flavor to the chili.I would definitely recommend this and will likely be buying it again.

I'd give it 5 stars if...
they changed their instructions. As another reviewer previously stated, you really need to double on the amount of mix and use 1 part for every 2 parts of water rather than the 1:4 ratio the label states. Other than that, it's a great base. Chopped up a tomato and added spices and chili powder and had a good test bowl with dinner last night and I'm usually not a veggie/vegan chili fan. Throw in some meat and it would have been A+ chili without a whole day or night of cooking.

Needs a bit more...
As a stand alone it lacks a bit... I followed the directions and it seemed too soupy (but I'm a Texan and here in Texas chili is not a soup. Yankees might think soupy chili is okay though). I'm also not a fan of the artifical vegie meat stuff which doesn't do much for this blend. I thought it would have been better cooked along with some lentils to make it thicker. I like harmony house stuff for adding to Ramen especially, and for adding to soups and beans, but this isn't one I am likely to purchase again, though it may be perfect for others. It was worth trying and I will certainly try other harmony house soup blends.

Fantastic, quick mix
This mix is a life saver for me when I'm being antisocial and won't go to the store. Frequently these dried mixes make an edible, acceptable meal, but with a few additives, this makes a superb meal. I add some ketchup, water, and chipolte pepper or siracha seasoning, bring to a boil, and then simmer for 15 minutes. I add some cheese to the finished product, and it's a wonderful chili. I do add less water than they recommend, the amount they recommend makes for a very water mix. It's also very low sodium, so I can actually make a healthy meal within my dietary parameters.

Great quality, completely lie about serving size.
This product is good overall, but they are completely off base with serving sizes. The entire container barely fed six people, and that was with the addition of sausage and extra beans.I would honestly go as far as to say it is slightly dangerous to recommend such an incorrect serving size. I have bought the backpackers sampler from this company and each pouch says it is two servings. If I would have went with their recommendations on one of my most recent backpacking trip I honestly would have starved.

Great
Put the right seasoning on it and this is a great chilli mix. I think the ratio of items in the mix are perfect for a basic chilli mix. Plan to add some of your own extra dehydrated products from Harmony House or throw in some fresh ground beef at home or can of chicken for the campsite.

Mostly beans
This mixture is mostly beans. The picture looked like more peppers in the mixture. That being said, good quality and taste fine!

I really like this. I don't use it for chili per se, I use it to make a rice & beans mix to go with my choice of protein, and it adds a very nice depth to the flavor that makes it a meal I can make frequently. It cooks well with rice without any pre-hydration required, and both rice and chili mix end up at the perfect texture. Very good.
