Incredible Beginner/Intermediate Transmitter
Super excited to get my hands on the 400s. I had previously owned the Mars 300 and I really liked that one for being an incredibly inexpensive transmitter for HDMI inputs. Hollyland really upped their game with this particular model without increasing the price too much. What I liked about it was the addition of SDI inputs/outputs. HDMI is nice to fit a wider range of consumer/prosumer cameras but the signal coming out of an HDMI system will increase latency to a point where it makes focus pulling hard to impossible depending on the situation. The SDI option has cut the latency down to a .35 sec delay which is way more usable as a focus pulling transmitter. I also loved that they added the feature of a phone transmission app which you can connect while the unit is also transmitting to the receiver. This means that I can give a phone to a director or someone else who needs to monitor picture without giving them a whole monitor just to themselves. The app connected quickly on my Iphone 11 Max Pro. Also the addition of a screen and controls on the actual transmitter/receiver units helps me troubleshoot them if something is getting weird. My biggest complaint about the unit is that they added fans to cool the TX/RX units which I assume they needed to do because of the extra work that they have to process. My Mars 300 got decently warm while using it so I assume with the added features this was necessary. The fans are decently quiet but depending on how the audio recording setup is, they might be noticeable. For the price and amount of features this unit comes with though I think it fits a nice niche that really isn't filled by any other company especially for the price range. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to complete their camera rig while not committing to the full price of something like a Teradek or one of Hollyland's other Cosmo models.

SDI Wireless Transmission for under $700!
First things first. I have been looking for a wireless video receiver to purchase this entire year. There's a lot of competition out there, from Teradek to Vaxis, to GhostEye and then there's Hollyland. I was looking at their higher end Cosmo model but didn't want to spend $1,600.I had been keeping an eye on the Mars 300 model but didn't like that it only had HDMI. I work with large cinema cameras that either don't have HDMI, or it wouldn't be a sturdy enough connection to trust on a professional set.Once I saw the 400S I thought this at this price point is insane. After opening the box, I was impressed that both the transmitter and receiver are the same size. That's really nice when you have to mount it to the back of a 7" monitor or on top of your camera. And they are easily labeled. When I first turned it on, it synced immediately. The LED screen is intuitive and makes selecting different channels a breeze. I saw another user point out the fan noise. I noticed this but I don't know if it would cause issues unless I was shooting in a small space with the camera right next to sound. I guess we will see.So far I used it on a commercial and it worked very well. I'm looking forward to getting a second receiver so that I can send the signal to both my 1st AC as well as a Director's Monitor. I also read that there is an app that you can send a signal to up to 4 android/iphone devices. Although this is a feature I probably won't use, it is really cool that you have that option.I'd say for the price, you really can't beat this wireless video system.

The Near Perfect Monitor Setup
I am in love with my Mars 400S, this device is incredible. It’s perfect for on the go shoots, Semi professional productions and for shooting at home content.I shoot majority marketing content with a few tv series sprinkled in. My setup is having this hooked to my camera while my assistant or Director or Script sup can view on my iPad with the incredible app that comes with at no additional cost. The latency is minimum. Doesn’t effect my workflow. The HDMI or SDI connection is a lot more reliable than using the WiFi source. It will occasionally glitch out but quickly will refresh back to normal. The fact that I can have multiple people tap into the feed is amazing. I bought some of the Sony batteries for it. They do run a little hot but nothing unbearable.Love the solid metal construction, the ease of use, limited buttons and small footprint. Very happy with my purchase of the Mars400S! Thank you.

The fan noise
Everything is great except the fan noise and can't view on my phone unless there is a network available. The noise is the biggest deal breaker for me. I rather go with Mars 300 instead Mars 400s. Maybe Mars 400 doesn't make noise compare to Mars 400s.

Great performance & value
We bought this system for a specific event & it was JUST what we needed. Outdoors, up to 300 feet (that's as far as we had to go) worked like a charm. Super easy - plug & play - LOVE the phone app ---

Cheap plastic material
The power switch broke off so I have to turn the unit off by removing the battery. It's poorly designed and has an overall plastic feel.

It works!
Definitely a great value for the money. The other brands that do the same thing are costing a couple of grand, and you are paying for consistent signal. Well, this version definitely provides a content video signal on a smaller indoor set. We’ve been using it for some time and been happy with the video quality. Highly recommend.

Smaller than expected!
Great product. I was actually surprised by how small it was. Did some tests walking around my house and the signal holds up quite well until I’m trying to go through a few walls. In the open it’s got more distance than I even need!
