Einhell Universal Hand Mower GE HM 38 S 3414165 – 38 mm – 250 m²

Mein Rasenroboter ist ausgefallen. Die Worx- Leute wurschteln jetzt seit 4 Wochen an dem armen Kerl herum. Keine Besserung in Aussicht. Derweil wächst mein Rasen einfach weiter. Zunächst habe ich mit meinem Elektromäher weiter gemäht, hatte aber den Rasenschnitt an der Backe. Dann fiel mir der gute alte Spindelmäher ein.Ich habe den Einhell gekauft weil er hier mit leise und geräuscharm beworben wird. Leute, das ist nicht Euer Ernst! Womit habt Ihr denn verglichen? Mit einem Aufsitzmäher ohne Auspufftopf oder dem Holder mit Ansauggerät vom örtlichen Bauhof oder was? Der Mäher ist leiser als die ersten mit falsch eingestellten Messern. Ja, das stimmt. Aber das Gekreisch des Mähwerkes kann man wohl nicht wegkonstruieren. Niemals würde ich mir erlauben am Sonntag damit zu mähen. Niemals!Dafür schiebt er sich aber tatsächlich leicht und schneidet sauber ab. In meinem Fall ist es so, dass ich jeden zweiten Tag über meine 350 qm Rasen fahre und den Schnitt liegen lasse. Ähnlich wie es der Worx- Landroid machen würde (wenn er denn machen würde).Das da ein paar Halme einmal stehen bleiben gehört wohl zum Spindelmähen dazu. Anfangs bin ich zweimal über die gleiche Stelle gefahren aber so wurden aus 350 qm gleich 700. Jetzt mähe ich einen Tag längs und den übernächsten Tag quer und lasse den Mäher ausschließlich vorwärts fahren. Dann ist auch das Geräusch angenehmer. Spindelmähen soll tatsächlich das beste Mähverfahren sein. Das kann ich von hier aus bestätigen. Das Mähergebnis ist gut, die Halme werden glatt abgeschnitten und bluten nicht aus. Allerdings mähe ich nur trockenen Rasen.Der Einhell ist tatsächlich seriös gebaut. Wertige Umsetzung. Einzig die beiden Sicherungen für den Schiebeholm sind ein bisschen winzig ausgefallen.Da ich jetzt kein Kabelsalat mehr habe bin ich tatsächlich bequemer unterwegs als mit dem Elektromäher. Vorausgesetzt natürlich man kann den 2 Tages- Rhythmus einhalten und muss mit dem Einhell keinen Urwald roden.Die Ränder: Da bleibt noch Einiges stehen am Rand. Ich habe jetzt festgestellt, dass jeder Mäher seine ganz bestimmten Problemränder hat. Der Roboter, der Elektro und auch der Spindelmäher. Es gibt Stellen da komme ich mit dem Handmäher noch drunter, da wäre der Elektro nicht hingekommen und umgekehrt. Schlussendlich muss man die Ränder doch gelegentlich nacharbeiten. Ob 3 cm oder 8 cm ist dann auch egal.Ich bin zufrieden mit dem Gerät. Auch wenn sich meine Erwartung bezüglich leise mähen nicht erfüllt hat.Immer wenn ich auf das Mähergehäuse schaue muss ich lächeln. Da steht tatsächlich: Silent- Hand- Mower drauf!Von mir gibt es trotzdem 5 Sterne für ein unverwüstliches Gerät das auch bei Stromausfall funktioniert!K A U F E N !Grüße Jens

4 stars is about right for this mower. For some people it will be 5 stars, if they meet the conditions I'll list below. Note that I have just received this mower today and done my first mow. It cost £65 when I bought it.I've had two hand mowers before:1. Brill Cylinder Mower Classic 30 - lasted 4 years then fell apart.2. Qualcast Panther 380 Hand Powered Cylinder Lawnmower (38 cm Cutting Width) - was a good mower but I moved property and left this behind for new tenants (I had used it for a year).The old place had flat lawns and the above two worked well (as long as cutting regularly - neither fared too well if the grass was long - think this applies to all cylindrical/hand mowers though). I preferred the 38cm model (2nd one) as you could cut the lawn faster.The new house I moved into had an electric mower. I persisted with this for a year but the blade bent out of shape (managed to repair this) and it kept cutting out (some safety thing presumably) before finishing the lawn. It's final straw was that the blade hit an exposed tree root and bent right out of shape - beyond repair. I bought this new hand mower to finish the half cut lawn. The new lawn is on a hill and has some uneven parts and some exposed roots.Hand vs Electric vs Petrol====================Petrol - Pros: No cord, powerful, will tackle long grass with ease. Cons: have to store/obtain fuel, noisy, tears through grass rather than snips, large footprint for storage.Electric - Pros: No fuel requirements, will tackle long grass. Cons: Cord is a total pain, tears through grass rather than snips, large footprint for storage.Hand - Pros: No cord, fastest way to cut grass (if grass kept in short and regular mows), gives nicest cut (cylindrical mowers cut with a scissor action), feel good factor of cutting with manual labour, less space required to store. Cons: Can't handle long grass very well, generally doesn't like uneven surfaces.====================For this mower, I saw one of the other Einhell mowers had good reviews, so I went to their website to compare their other models and this one seemed on paper to be superior - which is why I bought it - I want a really good hand mower.For this to be a 5 star mower for you would need to cut your grass regularly (every couple of weeks) and your lawn would need to be flat. Depending on the size of your lawn this might only be a 5/10 minute job in which case you won't look back as it would take you that amount of time to set up an electric mower. Also remember that hand mowers take up less space so you'll have more space in your garage.This particular model doesn't have a grass catcher. They have one model up - the same mower with a grass catcher, but it was £40 more and I find the catchers are hit and miss.For my first mow with this I found it quite hard going - the mower is a little heavy (my new garden is on a hill) but does feel sturdy and well made. You have to do a tiny bit of assembly (no tools required) to affix the handle but this is very straight forward. On this first mow it did jam a lot (grass was too long). I was sweating by the end - it was much more difficult than mowing my previous property which had flat lawns. I then had to rake up the grass and put it in the bin and go over it again to make it look tidy. Consider this the hill you have to climb to get the grass in order - subsequent mows will be much easier, if done regularly. Also if done regularly you wouldn't need a grass catcher as the small amount you are snipping off can just be left in place. It didn't handle the areas with exposed roots or the uneven parts of the lawn very well at all. I concede that I have some work to do on this lawn to get it in better shape (remove the exposed roots - tree is dead, just a stump - and fix up the uneven parts). That said the electric mower failed to complete the task successfully so I certainly wouldn't let this put you off hand mowers.This model is German designed but made in China - it does feel like it is good quality and well engineered.Hopefully this review helps and explains why I've given it 4 rather than 5 stars. I think Hand Mowers are the way forward and hope more people start using them so they become more popular and then manufacturers will take note and improve them.

Ich bin ein Freund der ressourcenschonenden Gartenarbeit. Ein Benzin- oder gar Aufsitzmäher für meinen Handtuchgarten ist schlicht Quatsch. Das ewige Stromkabel im Weg oder einen Akku-Mäher mit Lithium-Akkumulatoren aus blutigen kleinen Kinderhänden in ungesicherten Minen? Nicht mein Ding!Seit den 1970er Jahren habe ich schon handbetriebene Spindelmäher eingesetzt. Damals noch aus massivem Metall, grün lackiert und mit roten Punkten auf den Radnaben.In gleicher Erwartungshaltung habe ich mir den Amazon's Choice Mäher von Einhell bestellt.Pros:- Schnelle Lieferung- einfacher ZusammenbauCons:- Grasfangkorb weist schon jetzt deutliche Sollbruchstellen an den Lötpunkten auf- schneller Ausbau des Grasfangkorbes ist ebenso nicht möglich; absehbares Versagen der Arretierung- lautes Geschepper, wie einst in den 1970ern (wäre kein Problem, wenn nicht anders beworben!)- Hartplastikräder à la Sandspielzeug-Laster aus China bekommen kaum bis keinen Griff auf dem Rasen- nur sporadisches Drehen der Walze, wenn Räder greifen, ansonsten "hakelt" es trotz ordentlich Kraft von mirDer Name ist fast schon Programm: "Einhell" - wer "(k)eine Hölle" bei der Gartenarbeit haben möchte, sollte diesen Mäher auslassen!Es passt vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis überhaupt nicht zusammen, dass eine große Aktiengesellschaft aus Deutschland mit einem minderwertigen Produkt aus "PRC" = "Peoples Republic of China" versucht "Deutsche Qualität" und "Made in Germany" zu suggerieren.Ein wahrer Fehlkauf, der sofort nach der Demontage wieder stante pedes zurück ging.Mit Grasfangkorb zusammen fast 100 Euro - da fehlen mir die Worte!Selbst für 25 Euro bei Penny hätte ich auch nicht zugelangt bzw. dieses Gerät wieder zurück gegeben.

I purchased this mower to compliment the battery electric Mountfield I use on our three lawns. For regular trimming of the lawn I am finding it quite suitable and easy to push, but if the lawn as allowed to grow on it could be harder work than an electric mower. It gives a smoother finish to the lawn surface and does less damage to the grass than rotary mowers. It is offered on Amazon without the grass catcher, which you can purchase separately. Purchased together will cost about £ 121.The machine it self is excellent, well engineered, you only have the handle to assemble, and it is fairly light to carry. It is also very quiet when mowing. Any Cons? yes a niggle with the grass catcher. It clips on the back of the mower and there is a woven strap to hook it up to a bar on the handle assembly. This is adjustable but rather a fiddle to work with so I have replaced it with a stiff mettle strap which is permanently on the handle and with a hook which quickly goes on the grass catcher when your return it to the machine. It is quoted as being German designed but is manufactured in China. However the build quality appears to be very good.

I purchased this after reading positive reviews and after comparing multiple options. I have a fair sized garden and a temperamental (v heavy) petrol mower so wanted something that I could use when the mower was refusing to start. Haven’t used my ‘proper’ lawnmower at all since getting this. It handles long grass (well in excess of stated measurements), bumpy terrain, and although it suggests it’s for small/medium gardens, i have had no problems mowing an acre with it in one session. The first cut through long grass is a workout but once you’re just doing the upkeep, it’s really quick and easy. I was worried about assembly - piece of cake: pictorial instructions so no language issues but it’s basically push bolt here, tighten with black plastic thing x4; takes longer to open the box than to assemble. My garden is in several sections and you can just pick this up and carry it to the next bit, lift over gates or fences - it’s sturdy, but v light. I’m 5’5 and 9st so that’s not a 6’ bloke’s version of ‘light’! Only negative is that it doesn’t sort edges whereas I can run my petrol mower over the edges of paths / driveway but hardly the end of the world as you tend to need to do a strim tidy up anyway. I got mine at £70ish (Amazon warehouse) but if I ever needed a replacement, would be fine with full price, definitely worth it.
