Did the job, very well!
I was concerned noticing a little flat on the points of the punch piece. No problem, 18 gage sheet metal clean hole, no deformation, fit perfectly. For sheet metal holes, I did six, at this price the punch set is a fantastic deal. I was pleased and surprised!

Good
It's good for punching 1 or 2 holes, but as others have said it gets dull quick.

Will Not Cleanly Cut...
...holes in thin sheet metal. Especially stainless steel. Too large of a gap between punch and die cup.

Heavy duty
Nice punch. I have used it for aluminum, stainless, mild steel and plastic. Takes a good size hex wrench for thicker metal.

Great device heavy steel, cuts perfect.

For softer materials or VERY thin steel
The fit and finish of this punch looked similar to a greenlee punch I have in a different size.I drilled my bolt holes, lubricated the bearing surfaces and the bolt threads with a healthy amount of high pressure silicone grease and went to work cutting my first hole.It was cutting very hard and I struggled to keep from bending my work piece because the cutter head doesn't have any flats or other means to hold it with a wrench or vise, so I had to put the steel sheet metal piece in the vice and rely on that to resist the torque of the cutter, which was substantial.I got the first hole cut and thought this would go a lot easier if I ground some flats on cutter head so I could get a wrench on it. I did that, being careful to give the head plenty of time to cool between passes so I didn't ruin the heat treatment. I also noticed the threads on the bolt didn't look like they were in great shape. I'd expect a bolt used for this would be grade 8, but I'm guessing this isn't.So I put the head in the vice and an Allen wrench on the bolt, added a bit more grease, and started the second hole. This goes even harder. Eventually the torque required drops off and I figure I'm either through it or I stripped the bolt. Well, I stripped the bolt, and on top of that, two of the peaks of the cutting head chipped off during the cut.My takeaways for this are:1. This tool is probably fine if you're cutting aluminum, plastic, tin, or very light gauge soft steel. I don't know what the gauge of the sheet metal I was trying to cut is, but it was clearly too much for this tool. Couldn't even get through two holes.2. I suspect the heat treatment and/or the metallic composition on this cutting head was wrong and ended up conspiring to make the metal too brittle.3. Don't buy cheap tools for important jobs...even small ones. Now I have to either buy a good version of this tool for twice the price, or buy a step bit for a similar price and end up with a substandard result. Shame on me, I guess. I should know by now.
