We return to Jamestown, a 17th Century English settlement on the edge of the breathtaking but untamed Virginian wilderness. This second season sees the tobacco plantations provide the wealth they promised but the status quo will soon be disrupted by births, deaths and broken marriages. Our pioneering settlers find themselves at the heart of adventure once more as new arrivals attempt to find their place in this foreign land. Relationships with the Native peoples afford some great influence in the town but no man, or woman, is going to give up their share of the Virginian riches without a fight. Jamestown returns for another season of dazzling ventures in love, war and diplomacy. Making a home in the New World is a dirty business, can our colonists keep their consciences clean… Written by Bill Gallagher, the eight-part drama is set during a unique period of adventure and features an ensemble cast that includes Naomi Battrick, Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Dean Lennox Kelly, Stuart Martin, Sophie Rundle, Matt Stokoe and Niamh Walsh. WARNING - Season 2 Contains Homosexual Content
So disappointed that I got duped into paying for Season 2. Where's the refund button Amazon? The producers slipped in homosexual content in episode 5 which begins a love affair between two male characters. If you're watching with your children and don't want them exposed to these things, I recommend you either don't purchase Jamestown, or make sure they aren't in the room watching. I will not watch another episode, nor will I purchase Season 3.I wish TV/movie ratings included warnings regarding LGBTQ content so that I could make an informed purchasing decision and vote with my $$.

Ridiculous
First season was good. Worth watching. But like so many shows this one has to bring in the token homosexual/transgendered character and create an imaginary world where it was an acceptable practice. That may be the politically correct mindset today but it definitely was not then. Ridiculous.

History mixed with current culture
If you want accuracy with your history this isn't it especially with this last episode (Dec 16th) . No, they didn't behave like this at this time not even close. Another good idea in the trash thanks to PBS story manipulation. My kids can't even watch a promising series with me from them.I'm done with it.

Completely not worth your time
Terrible waste! A beautiful and historical series turned to transgender focused. Season 2 isn’t great or historically correct at all. Too bad now children can’t even watch. I was so excited for this especially after watching all the bonus episodes of the making of the show etc. Shame on these producers for misleading.

Lost interest
Episode 5 season 2 lost me. The transgender bit took away from the 1600s flair and draw to the series.

Forego this lackluster period drama.
Wanted to give this show a second chance with the second season as the first season was mediocre, but somewhat interesting. This season is even worse. Low quality writing. Characters are not interesting. Tries hard to creat drama but fails. Forego this lackluster drama.

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT - AND UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTHS
Virginia 1620 - a year since the ship landed with women to marry men they had never met. Focus again is on the feisty three: Jocelyn, now a widow (circumstances suspicious); pregnant Alice, wedded to the brother of the one she was scheduled to wed; Verity offering much full throated amusement at the tavern she runs with her drunken husband. Meanwhile the local Pamunkey tribe is understandably wary about the white colony's increasing numbers, which surely will lead to expanding ever more into their own territory. The soil is ideal for growing tobacco, duplicitous Governor Yeardley and his two cronies importing workers from Africa to work in the fields - and so the start of slavery.Creators have aimed for historical accuracy interlaced with soapstyle storylines - including hints of the supernatural (Episode 6 a corker). Great scripts. Full-blooded performances, nobody one dimensional - even arguably the biggest villain earning some sympathy (just a little and not for long). So many undercurrents. Whenever things seem to be getting out of hand, Yeardley achieves uneasy unity by warning of a possible Spanish invasion.Critics no doubt may find much to ridicule. Fans will find much to please. Underlying everything, though, is a sobering thought: this just one of the colonies destined to flourish by exploiting two races. Away with native Americans who had lived there for generations; in with the slaves to ensure healthy profits for their white bosses. All in the name of Christianity, which some may feel has strayed far from anything Jesus ever taught.8 episodes. An excellent "The Story So Far" feature. Best to watch this first, although it is on Disc 3.

Historical drama
Historical drama that some have sought to denigrate re various imperfections, but nevertheless gripping storylines and interesting characters played actors I personally adore: Sophie Rundell, Burn Gorman, and a few people new to me.

First Colonists.
We have season 1 and enjoyed that so eagerly awaited season 2. We have only had time to watch the first three episodes but we liked what we have seen so far. Its a period of history that is sometimes ignored, some people thinking that the first colonists were the Pilgrim Fathers in New England.
